We participate in many activities throughout the year and seek to be more involved in the coming years. Some events to mention are:
Current Events
Wiggle Waggle Walkathon for the Ottawa Humane Society
The Alta Vista and Bayview Animal Hospitals will be participating in the Wiggle Waggle Walkathon for the Ottawa Humane Society again this year. We are hosting a booth with a fun activity and treats to give away, so please stop by and see us! Our "Hotpistols" team will be walking with their pooches and hope to reach their goal of $15,000 this year! Join us Sunday, September 11th for a fun day out with your furry friend to raise money for a great cause.
"Be a Tree" Program
The doctors and staff of Bayview Animal Hospital have implemented an educational dog bite prevention program in the Ottawa area. The session is being offered free of charge to elementary classrooms and is delivered by Drs. Hilary Mellor and Graham Thatcher of the Bayview Animal Hospital. The session is designed for groups of 25-50 students from kindergarten to grade four. The length of the presentation can be adjusted to accommodate your needs.

Dog Wash a Great Success!
Thanks to all owners and dogs that came out to support our Dirty Dog Wash day on Sunday July 17th. We washed over 40 dogs and raised $630 for the Bayview Animal Hospital Save fund, which helps pets afford emergency medical care they might not have received. Thanks for a sunny, suds-y day full of good cheer for a great cause. We hope to see you all at our next event!
Pugstock
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at PUGSTOCK on May 15, 2011!
The rain held off for our little pug friends and we had a great day at Pugstock. Almost every pug stopped by to say hello to us, get a carrot or apple treat, and have their owners design one of our bandanas for them!
We raised $182 for Under My Wing Pug Rescue from the sales of raffle tickets for our doggie treat basket! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and helped us with our donation. Thank you also to Under My Wing Pug Rescue for having us, we had a blast!
Wiggle Waggle Walkathon
The Bayview and Alta Vista Animal Hospital’s "Hot Pistols" team enthusiastically participated again this year in the Wiggle Waggle Walkathon to raise money for the Ottawa Humane Society on Sunday, September 12. Our team raised more than $12,000, with more than 30 walkers making up our proud team.
Spring Fling
On April 11th, 2010 the BAH team welcomed pets and their families to the practice for a very successful “Spring Fling”. Visitors could tour the hospital and while enroute stop for a photograph with their pet to take home. The team gave demos on how to brush a pet’s teeth, trim nails, and check for fleas. There was a heartworm and parasite display and the braver guests could look at ticks, fleas and ear mites up close. Visitors could learn how to read an x-ray and children had their own area to dress up as a surgeon. The team had a great day hosting the event and we thank those who attended.
2009 Agility Association of Canada Ontario Regional Championships
A team from the Bayview Animal Hospital participated in this year's competition volunteering their time and energy in the running of the days' events. Their enthusiasm and enjoyment of witnessing such talented pooches was not diminished despite the cold and rainy weather!
The Parliament Hill Cats - Documentary and Vaccinations
A team from the Alta Vista Animal Hospital set their sights on vaccinating the Cats at Parliament Hill that live at the infamous cat sanctuary. This is a yearly effort led by Lara Jamieson and team. This year was also filmed by Bountiful Films who are creating a documentary on Cat Colonies around the world. The show will air in the spring on CBC with a small feature on Dr Lara Jamieson.
