Alicia

Alicia has had the privilege of working in both animal clinics and shelters for the past 5 years. She also has experience working with many exotic animals including snakes, small reptiles, skunks, alligators, geese, pigs, and ferrets. Alicia is currently working at Bayview Animal Hospital as a Receptionist/Vet Assistant, as well as an OSPCA Agent with the Ottawa Humane Society. She and her husband Brent share their home with two Shepherd mixes named Nila and Izzy (both named after famous TV doctors) and their feline buddy Pepe. In her free time, Alicia enjoys Tae Kwon Do training, mountain biking, snowboarding and snowshoeing with her dogs.

Andrea

Andrea was born and raised in Pembroke, Ontario. In 2006, she moved to Ottawa to study the Veterinary Technician Program at Algonquin College and successfully passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam in June of 2008. Later that year, Andrea gladly accepted a position to join the team of Registered Veterinary Technicians at Bayview Animal Hospital. She shares her home with her three cats, Cleo, Mela, and Little Orphan Annie as well as her lop-eared rabbit, Butters.

Anne

Anne's interest in veterinary medicine began in high school when she completed a co-op program at a veterinary hospital in 2005. Anne joined the Bayview team in June 2010 and she has quickly proven her flexibility! Anne brings her enthusiasm to three positions, veterinary assistant, CSR and team medicine assistant.

Every day Anne comes home to her 2 large dogs: A Rottweiler named King, and Trooper, a mixed breed rescue as well as her 2 kitties, Oliver and Moustache.

Anne aspires to further her education and become a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Bonnie

Bonnie caught the Veterinary 'bug' during a co-op placement in High School at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital and over 30 years later, is still just as passionate about the profession. She has had the unique experience of having filled many different roles in a busy 145-employee practice. Following graduation from Centralia College as an Animal Health Technologist in 1977, she worked as a technician in the General Practice for the first 15 years of her career. For the next 15, she was fortunate to work in many positions at the hospital, giving her the chance to explore many opportunities within the profession. As the hospital continued to expand and evolve into the facility it is today, she worked as a manager for the Reception team and as assistant to the Director of General Practice. Now, working in Learning and Development, Bonnie's role continues to grow. With services such as Emergency/ICU, Oncology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine and Specialty Surgery offered through the hospital as well as the recent AAHA accreditation of Bayview Animal Hospital, the chance to work with teams to expand the knowledge in all of these areas is an exciting one. She is currently completing a program through St. Xavier University in Adult Education and teaches part-time for the Veterinary Assistant program through Algonquin College in Ottawa. She believes in lifelong learning and feels that working in the Veterinary profession not a day has gone by that she hasn't learned something new! Bonnie and her husband share their home in Ottawa with a spoiled Somali cat, Amber.

Devin

Born and raised in the great city of Ottawa, Devin is no stranger to animals. Growing up as a child, he always lived with pets, and currently shares his household with his two cats, Delaney and Aspen. After graduating high school, Devin attended the University of Ottawa for a Bachelor's degree in Biology and it wasn't until a once in a lifetime hiking excursion in Tanzania that he realized he should pursue a career in the animal care industry. Shortly after graduating university, Devin joined the Bayview team as a Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant and hasn't stopped smiling since, literally. Devin is still continuing his education through correspondence to become a zookeeper, and dreams of one day working with large exotic cats at the Metro Toronto Zoo.

Karen

Karen first started her career in the veterinary industry in 2004 as a Receptionist in the Referral/Emergency department at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital. Within three years, her position transitioned from Receptionist to Team Lead to Assistant Manager, and finally to Manager of Client Service Representatives. In 2008, Karen was asked to join the team at Bayview Animal Hospital as Hospital Manager, and although it was difficult at first to leave her roots at Alta Vista, she is happy in her role and is very proud to be a part of the Bayview family. Her family includes a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix named Shadow. For fun, Karen enjoys volleyball, softball, camping in the great outdoors, and watching movies.

Kim

Kim graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at St. Lawrence College in 2004 and joined the Bayview team in 2005. She shares her home with two cats. She has a strong interest in small animal anesthesia and languages. She is currently enrolled in the Linguistics program at CarletonUniversity, part-time. Music is also an important aspect of Kim's life. When relaxing at home, she is known to sit at her piano and teach herself a new tune or just sing along to some music from her favorite bands. Either way, the sky's the limit!

Melissa

Melissa moved to Ottawa in January 2000. After she completed her Child and Youth Worker program, she decided to try something different. She has been a full time Receptionist at Bayview Animal Hospital since October 2008, and is interested in pursuing a career as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She shares her life with her two pugs, Rocky and Eva, and a pug mix named Gizmo. In Melissa's spare time she enjoys painting, drawing, reading, and listening to music.

Sharron

Sharron loves working at Bayview Animal Hospital. She must, having been here for over 10 years, almost half her entire career, as a Registered Veterinary Technologist. She graduated longer ago than she would like to admit from St Lawrence College in Kingston. Since starting her career in Toronto, she made the move to Ottawa and had the wonderful opportunity to grow with Bayview as the hospital changed locations and, more recently, became AAHA accredited. Working with such a compassionate team and wonderful patients made this happen. Sharron's personal growth continues outside of Bayview as she tries to sample all that life has to offer including traveling, sailing, skiing, biking, hiking, all the "ings" including piloting her own plane and grooming. Of course life would not be complete without the companionship of her two master cats, Riley and Gambit, oh and of course John, her spousal equivalent.

Shirley

Shirley was born and raised in Ottawa for the exception of three years where she lived in James Bay, Quebec. In 1985, Shirley decided to take an Animal Science course and in 1986, she joined the team at BayviewAnimalHospital and has never looked back since! She has two cats, Latera, and Gabby, and recently adopted an Australian Shepherd named Jade. She really enjoys reading, drawing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Stephanie

Steph successfully completed the Veterinary Assistant Program at Algonquin College in 2003. Later that year, she joined the Alta Vista/Bayview team as a Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant. She shares her home with three furry canines, Tuffy, Lex, and her German Shepherd cross Max. She is currently studying Translation at the University of Ottawa. In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding with her boyfriend Blake and spending time at the park with her dogs.
